Sample Elementary, Middle, and High School Principal Inauguration Speeches

S

I’ve written inaugural speeches for elementary, middle, and high school principals to help you prepare for your own inauguration.

Elementary school principal inauguration speech

Hello, my name is Mr. ○○○, and I am the new principal of ○○ Elementary School in Seoul, Korea, and I feel immensely proud and honored to be in this position. As a member of our school family, it is a great honor to be here with over a hundred children, staff, parents, alumni, and community members.
A school is not just a place to learn, but a place where children can develop their own dreams and become the right kind of people to live well in the future. Therefore, teachers and students need to connect with each other on a personal level; parents and community members need to believe in and support the school; and the school needs to be a fun place where everyone wants to come and stay because it is “our school”.
Children, you are the hope of tomorrow! The principal has his first meeting with you today. Instead of saying, ‘Do your best in school,’ I want to say, ‘Do what you want to do, but don’t hurt others.’ You are free to follow your dreams and do what you want to do, but I want you to think deeply about how your actions will affect others so that you don’t hurt others in the process.
Parents and community members, in the past, we used to have a “one-line education” where we would sort out the honor students according to their scores, but now we need to have a “many-line education” where each child can feel successful in their favorite field and use their talents. Children are not your property, and you should not impose your ideas on them. They have their own ideas, and we need to help them make their own decisions because they will live in a different world than we do now.
Education cannot be the sole role of schools, and can only be maximized through the complementarity of home and society. The diverse and rich experience and knowledge of parents and community members is an invaluable resource that can compensate for the lack of education in schools. With the idea that we are all teachers, let’s devote ourselves to the healthy development of every child in our town.
Children, teachers, parents, alumni, and community members, we are all members of the ○○ Elementary School community, a family. Let’s gather our strength and wisdom to make this a school you want to transfer to and a town you want to move to. In closing, as your principal, I pledge to listen to your opinions, think deeply, and build a good school with you. Thank you.

Elementary school principal’s inaugural speech

Good morning, everyone. First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the faculty, staff, school management committee members, and parents for joining us today. I am very happy and honored to be here with you.
I started my teaching career as a teacher at ○○ Elementary School, served as an assistant principal at ○○ Elementary School, and now stand before you as principal. Based on my teaching experience, I will do my best to build on the foundation that you have laid so far and work with the staff and parents to make ○○ Elementary School a better and more vibrant place for education.
I value meeting with you more than anything else. Education is not something that can be done alone, nor should it depend on the ideas of any one person. I believe that only when we all combine our thoughts, expertise, passion, and sense of mission can true education be achieved. In advanced countries, the word “respect” is always at the center of education.
“Respect Yourself”
Respect yourself, value yourself! People who value themselves can value others. Value what you do, value yourself, and become a better professional.
“Respect Others”
Respect others, value others! I respect my teachers and parents, and I will listen to their voices.
Let’s make it a habit to greet them with a bright face. When we greet children by looking at their bright faces, our hearts become younger. And I will be a good compromiser. The art of compromise lies in knowing how to make concessions. When we respect others, we can be good compromisers, and I believe that compromisers lead happy lives.
The most important thing in a community is communication. I will open my heart and listen to your voices, and I will communicate with you every chance I get to make our school a happy place, and I believe that you will do the same.
There is a saying, “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together”. We are companions who will accompany the children of ○○ Elementary School in the global era and go a long way together to carry the future of our proud country.
Finally, I would like to thank the previous principal, staff members, and parents who actively helped me to take over as principal. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to my wife and my beloved daughter and son for their support. With your support and encouragement, I will work even harder. Thank you.

Principal’s inaugural speech

Good morning, everyone. I am Mr. ○○○, the new principal of ○○ High School.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who have gathered here to celebrate my inauguration. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to the school board members and other parents who have taken time out of their busy schedules to be here.
Looking back, many things have happened in my ○○ years of teaching, some of which have been fun, some of which have been rewarding, and some of which have been frustrating, but I believe that I have persevered and persevered, and that is what has brought me to where I am today.
One day last week, I saw a scene on the morning news about a teacher and a pupil, and the teacher told the pupil that he should be respected and have faith in his colleagues. It was like a message to me: have I been able to establish myself as a respected teacher, have I been a teacher with faith, have I inspired parents to have faith in me? To be honest, I don’t have the confidence to answer “yes, I have”.
I believe that teaching is a God-given profession, and while some people say that anyone can do it, that’s coming from people who don’t know much about it. Teaching is a profession that requires a lot of hard work, passion, and patience. It’s not something you do for the recognition of others, but rather, true educators have lived their lives silently looking ahead.
I will continue to uphold the essence of the profession and strive to make the school a place where students want to come, teachers are happy to teach, and parents can trust their children.
From this day forward, I will do my best to make ○○ High School a school that students want to come to, a school that teachers want to teach at, and a school that parents can trust and entrust their children to. I will roll up my sleeves and do whatever it takes to make it happen.
It will take more than just my efforts to create a school that students want to come to, a school that students love. Everyone here needs to work together: the students, the teachers, and the parents. It is easier to achieve with the wisdom of many than with the strength of one. Thank you.

Middle School Principal’s Inaugural Speech

Dear teachers, parents, and beloved students, it is my sincere pleasure to assume the responsibility of principal of this school and to study and work with you in this school.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to the previous principal and teachers for their hard work and contributions. I intend to do my best to nurture you as excellent students and to contribute to the development of ○○ Middle School.
However, the development of a school is never an easy task, and it cannot be accomplished by my efforts alone. It requires the combined efforts of many teachers, each student, and all parents.
If we compare it to a tug-of-war, when the two teams, blue and white, each pull as hard as they can, the rope doesn’t move a bit, but if one team diverts their energy or loses harmony, they will lose. It’s important for everyone to work together.
Therefore, I will do my best, and I hope you will do your best to contribute to the development of the school.
I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little more about what I’m thinking about.
First, as young people, we need to grow up healthy.
As a middle school student, you are at a critical time in your life when your body and mind are growing, and when I say “healthy,” I mean both mind and body. When your body is healthy, you can study and work with motivation, but your mental health is also important. We want you to take this seriously and keep your mind and body healthy.
Second, learn hard, play hard, and work hard.
You are highly motivated to learn right now. This is a time when studying is very much on your mind. Whether you go on to advanced school or find a job, I hope you’re committed to your studies for the future.
At the same time, develop the habit of being willing to work hard – good habits rule the rest of your life. It’s also important to enjoy your hobbies. When I say ‘play hard,’ I mean enjoy noble hobbies, which will lead you to a richer life.
In addition to these principles, there are many more important factors for a school to develop well. I hope that teachers and students will cooperate to implement them one by one in the future. People talk about theories, but when it comes to implementation, words and actions often don’t match.
Please continue to submit your opinions, implement good things one by one, and let’s make this school even better than it already is. Thank you.

Principal’s inaugural speech

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. ○○○, the chairman of the school management committee, Mrs. ○○○, the chairman of the board of trustees, Mr. ○○○, the president of the alumni association, and other guests and parents for taking time out of their busy schedules to be here today. Welcome to the students of ○○ High School.
I stand here with a heavy responsibility as a school principal to teach you to live a true life. Therefore, I will focus on character education, which recaptures the essence of education and cultivates human-like character, and creativity education, which synthesizes, applies, and re-creates knowledge information. I will use my knowledge and experience to fulfill my role as a school administrator. I will always anticipate the future, present a vision, and take the lead in creating a new school culture through democratic and professional leadership.
You, the students, are the owners of our school, and you are the agents of your own learning. Teachers are facilitators and guides to help you learn, so we expect you to be intellectually curious and excited about learning, to be self-directed in your studies, and to showcase your talents and abilities through extracurricular, enrichment, and classroom activities. This will give you the opportunity to grow beyond just learning.
We all have different abilities. You need to believe in your own abilities and have the confidence to say, “I can do this, too.” You need to always have a positive self-concept, like and respect yourself first, and develop the courage and drive to not be afraid of failure. The real losers are not those who fail, but those who give up. I will keep in close contact with you and listen to your thoughts and opinions.
You are fortunate to be learning in a school with history and tradition, located in a place with good geography and good math, and taught by talented and enthusiastic teachers. I urge you to always respect and appreciate your teachers, prepare hard, and become the people this society needs. I wish you all success and growth, and I would like to conclude my inaugural speech. Thank you.

Sample inaugural speech for a middle school principal

Good morning, everyone. First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who are watching and blessing my inauguration. I am grateful for your warm welcome, and as I stand here today, I am filled with a sense of joy, but also with a heavy and grave sense of responsibility.
I know that there has been a great deal of concern about middle school education in recent years. Over time, middle school has lost its purpose and has become little more than a staging ground to get into a good high school. Instead of character education, it’s becoming a place where kids are instilled with fierce and cold competition. It’s sad that today’s students, who are going through one of the most sensitive and vulnerable periods of a person’s life – boyhood – are being taught endless competition first.
My vision is not to increase competition, but to eliminate as much as possible any unnecessary competition or fighting mentality in schools. There will always be invisible competition to get into the high school of your choice, but there’s no need to bring it to the surface and create a climate of fear for students.
Schools aren’t temporary institutions for entrance exams – they’re not Spartan prep schools, either – they’re supposed to serve a socializing function. Let’s reorganize schools so that students learn to work together to create beautiful things, and so that they learn to work together before they compete.
I’d like to take a moment to tell you the story of the two-headed bird, whose heads feuded and eventually hatched a plan to kill each other. Since they have two heads but one body, the bird ends up losing its life. Success is not the only thing that awaits us in this age of hyper-competition, but schools should be institutions that foster friendship, harmony, and unity over competition, and we will do our best to make that happen.
So, please stand by the underdogs and be their strength. We need your help to make sure that we are able to fulfill our mission of student growth and self-actualization. With my determination and your help, school will no longer be a cold place where competition is enforced, but a place where symbiosis and harmony are realized.
Thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend the inauguration. I wish you all the best, and with that, I’d like to conclude my remarks. Thank you.

Sample inaugural greeting for an elementary school principal

I am honored to be appointed to the position of principal of ○○ Elementary School, a prestigious school steeped in history and tradition in ○○. As I stand here today, I am filled with anxiety because I feel inadequate in the face of this honor, but I am not afraid because I know I have the support of our wonderful vice principal and other staff members.
All of us in the education family at ○○ Elementary School are destined to be in the same boat, and today, thirteen teachers and I have boarded the ○○ together, and although I am a late comer, I feel a great responsibility because I am now the captain of the ○○.
We are now in the same boat, and we are destined to go down together. During the voyage, when the water is clear, the moonlight is beautiful, and the scenery is spectacular, such as in Halliardsudo, we can cheer together, but when the wind is fierce and the ship is in danger of running aground, we can only survive by working together to pump out the water that is flooding into the boat. In overcoming these crises, we will become stronger.
We, the ○○ Education family, are all wise, so we will overcome any crisis that comes our way, and we will be able to fulfill our great goal of educating second-generation citizens and creating an educational culture that will grow dreamers into big trees. With this belief, I am looking forward to the future with you.
For example, let’s think about the shortest way to get to the United States. The answer might be to take the fastest airplane, but that’s not the right answer, and the most accurate answer is to go with someone you like, especially if it’s someone you care about.
Going to work with someone you share your life with can make every day a joy, but going to work with someone you don’t like can feel like a thorn in your side. Today is the day of the new school year and a fresh start. We, the ○○ Education family, have welcomed the incoming families with open arms.
We met as a family, but even in a family, there may be differences of opinion between parents and children, and sometimes the color of our faces may change with discord. However, if we make small concessions and consider each other, we can always be proud companions. I wish you all the best in the future. Thank you.

Middle school principal’s inaugural greeting

hello. ○○Good morning, dear members of the middle school education family. It’s a beautiful fall day. The color of the sky is as clear and transparent as if paint had been released, and it stretches so high that you can’t even touch it. It was on such a sky-high day that our country first appeared in the world under the name of Joseon. From the myth of Dangun, as we know it, our land and our people have lived on the Korean Peninsula for thousands of years.
Our ○○ Middle School has only been open for five years, but I believe that it is because we are within the borders of the Republic of Korea that we have been able to achieve such stability and development. I am very grateful that the members of our school community – students, faculty, parents, and the community – have been caring for each other and diligently fulfilling their duties.
I stand here today with the heavy responsibility as a principal to lead our students to develop into the core competencies required in the 21st century knowledge-based society. Today’s society demands people with core competencies, that is, people with character as well as skills. People with character are those who care for others with love and practice sharing, and people with skills are those who create knowledge with creativity.
Therefore, my vision for school education is to foster people who live together with love, who practice caring and sharing, and who realize their dreams by creating new knowledge through creativity.
Dream, love, and creativity are the lessons of our school, and we will make the following efforts to realize these lessons.
First, we will organize a curriculum-centered school where members of the school community share a vision for schooling and work together to implement it. This will focus on creating an environment where students can enjoy learning and reach their full potential.
Second, we will establish formal and informal forums for harmony among school community members to create an atmosphere of mutual consideration and sharing through dialogue and compromise. In particular, we will strive for institutional improvements to ensure that teachers’ human rights and teaching rights are respected alongside students’ human rights.
Third, we will organize and operate a curriculum that emphasizes career education to help students explore and choose careers and professions. This will provide opportunities for students to discover their aptitudes and interests and prepare for the future.
Lastly, we will strive to help students develop self-directed learning skills, where they are the ones in charge of their own learning activities. Teachers are facilitators and guides to help you learn. Therefore, we will strive to help you become intellectually curious, excited about learning, and learn to be self-directed. We will build a variety of learning programs and support systems to help you do this.
In closing, I would like to make a plea to you. We expect you to do what you are good at, what you love, and what you value, to pursue your dreams, and to grow into people with key competencies in the future society. Please continue to challenge yourself and work diligently toward your dreams and goals. We also ask for the continued interest and support of our parents and community. I look forward to communicating closely with you, the educational community, and listening to your thoughts and opinions. Thank you.

Principal’s Season’s Greetings

Good morning, everyone.
It’s a crisp fall morning. Even better, today is the National Day of the Open Sky. Gaecheonjeon, which means the opening of the heavens and the opening of the country, is the birthday of our country. Many of you know the myth of Dangun, the myth of a bear being born into a human being after much labor, and the founding of Gojoseon. Our country was born under the name of Joseon a long time ago, and although it has changed many names in the meantime, it has become the Republic of Korea. Before my inaugural address, I’d like to take a moment to commemorate this momentous occasion and reflect with you on the meaning of this day.
Since the announcement of my appointment on October 1, I have received many heartfelt congratulations from my family, colleagues at work, and friends. Many people have told me how great it is that you are now a principal after all the hard work you have put in. I am grateful for these words of praise because I personally feel great joy that this is the last honor I have been granted after 25 years as a regular teacher, three and a half years as an assistant principal, three and a half years as a scholarship officer, and 32 years of teaching.
But it was fleeting. When I turned it around and thought about it, the words, “Now that you’re a principal, the hard work is over,” were immediately taken at face value, and I felt a great weight on my shoulders as I realized how ashamed I must be of myself as a principal and as an educator in this day and age who is supposed to be leading the way in education, if only for my own comfort.
Honorable staff, parents, and students!
I bow my head in gratitude for your celebration of my arrival, and rather than ask you what I want you to do for the school, I would like to share with you some of my resolutions and commitments as I take the helm.
Everyone in their right mind will tell you that our education is in crisis, that our schools are teetering on a precipice, but we will never solve our education problems and we will never turn our education around by looking outside of ourselves and blaming and resenting anything outside of ourselves.
The answers are within us. We hold the key to it ourselves. If our children are going wrong, we are guilty of teaching them wrong, and if they are lost and wandering, it is because we have failed in our efforts to be their spiritual beacon.
As a principal, I have only a small amount of power, but with the passion of our teachers who truly love our children and the support of our wonderful parents who would risk everything for their children, I hope to create a school that is a school, a school that does education right.
As principal of this school, I will definitely emphasize learning, because that is the reason for the existence of schools in the East and West, and it is the most important purpose of education. Through learning, we must lead our children to fulfill their dreams in the wider world, so that they can prepare for the future with hope.
To our esteemed teachers, parents, and beloved students!
When it comes to anything we do, the bigger the ambition, the better, and my resolve and determination I’ve shared so far is by no means small, perhaps even beyond my personal capabilities.
But I have faith in our teachers, and I have faith in our teachers who will be willing to step up to the plate if this principal’s philosophy and commitment to putting children at the center of education and making the school great and making education great is the right thing to do.
I am sure that the students and parents will also applaud from the bottom of their hearts. I will do my best so that my name will not be dishonored, so that I will not be ashamed of my name. With your support and cooperation, we can build a better future together. Thank you.

Principal’s Inaugural Message

It’s May, and new buds are starting to poke their heads out of seemingly dead trees, and the world is about to turn green. You may wonder how the world around you has changed so much, but the changes are so small that you can’t see them unless you look closely. Perhaps people only realize that spring has arrived when leaves sprout from the buds and flowers bloom.
Similarly, people seem to be numb to what’s happening around them. It takes a major accident to make them realize that something has happened. I hope you can keep your eyes and ears open, not just for nature, but for the people around you. I believe that nothing makes a person grow more than communication, and I look forward to helping you grow more. I will strive to be a principal who can communicate with you, the students.
As I begin my new role as principal, I would like to share with you a few things that I will be doing.
You are a chosen people, spending the most important years of your lives in our school, transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. As you know, our school’s goal is to educate “proud Koreans and global leaders,” so our curriculum is both Korean and global. Our curriculum, which you are currently participating in, consists of identity education, various activities for leadership development, and international education, where identity education and leadership activities account for 50% of the curriculum, and international education accounts for the remaining 50%.
In order to become the best school in Korea and the world, we will deepen each of these activities in the future. To this end, from the second semester, we will strengthen and deepen the identity education and leadership activities. We will also strengthen the activities in these areas in Korean to improve your understanding of the Korean language, so that you can confidently open your future as a member of our society and as a leader.
For all of these programs, the new faculty for the second semester will be a diverse group of teachers in their 50s, 40s, 30s, and 20s, which will give you more stability. Ongoing and regular evaluations of our native teachers as well as our leadership tutors will allow our staff to be more engaged in student teaching.
Since all of these activities operate under our school’s community code, we will apply the code more strictly to students in the future, without exception, to increase their sense of compliance. As a result of these efforts, we hope that each of you will grow into global leaders, and the school will become a world-class institution.
In the end, all of this is predicated not only on the efforts of school authorities, but also on the understanding and cooperation of students, teachers and parents, so I ask for your understanding and cooperation, and wish you all the best in your growth. Yours sincerely.
